Overview

Well-marked paths across Prestwold Park and surrounding villages, with easy ascent to Hoton ridge.
Option 1  5.5 miles - Hoton, Prestwold,  Burton and Walton on the wolds. Prestwold church

Option 2  7.8 miles - an extension of option 1, taking in Hoton hills,  before returning to Packe Arms.

Well marked paths through fields and woods, but expect some overgrowth at this time of year. Passing through quiet residential streets and crossing of a minor road. We pass The Anchor Inn approx half way round which may be a good place to stop for refreshment.

Those choosing the longer route will walk through farm yard for 3/4 mile up to Hoton ridge continuing along the ridge for I mile before descending on a quite narrow and steady incline to a concrete path and short walk back to the start. This path can be very muddy after rain.

Lunch-and coffee stops as desired. No toilets on route other than the Inn at the start and end of walk where people may prefer to have lunch.  If the pub lunch is required it may be wise to book as it is a popular venue. I’m happy to do a group booking, but please advise via text/ email by Friday pm latest.

Please register for this walk on Newark Ramblers website where you will also find details of our car share scheme.
