This is a B grade walk of approximately 8 miles, with a climb of approximately 400metres. Time for walk approximately 5 and a half hours. Requires boots and walking poles, gaiters are optional.
THE 9.25am FERRY HAS TO BE BOOKED 3 DAYS BEFORE SO NAMES MUST BE GIVEN FOR THIS WALK BY WED 21ST MAY. COST IS £10 PER PERSON.
We start at the visitor centre car park at Balmaha, toilets are 50p, also there is a £4 charge for the car park for the day. Card or cash. Then we take the 9.25am ferry over to Inchcailloch.
We will enjoy the walks on the island, and have a tea break there, there are compostable toilets available on the island. There are fine views from the high point. We will have about 2 hours on the island.
We return to Balmaha on the 11.30 am ferry. Water is available at the Tom Weir park.
Then we will climb Conic Hill from the car park, there is a good newly laid path all the way to the summit, where we can stop for lunch. with a 360 degree view.
On our descent we will leave the stone path to the right and head over grassy slopes to the road negotiating a steep eroded path near the bottom which may be muddy. We then cross the road ,
( CARE MUST BE TAKEN HERE), to the Loch Lomond side with a beach where if you wish you can have a paddle, or a swim! Then we take the path along the Loch side to Balmaha with a short stretch of road before the car park.
Directions for travel
Take the Erskine Bridge and then turn left on to the A82 to Stoneymollan roundabout, turn right through Balloch on the A811 to Drymen. At Drymen take the minor road B837 to Balmaha. Time approx one and half hours.130 mile round trip, £39 per car.
