The car park, which is next to the former Holy Trinity church, is accessible from the Grimshaw Lane end even if 'Road Closed' signs are in place. Also, there is usually a good amount of roadside parking adjacent to the car park. Start 10am, 12.5 miles (20 km), Grade: Easy initially, progressing towards top end of Moderate.
Circular walk from Kerridge - a walk of contrasting terrain. The route in the early stages involves mostly level walking including such footpaths as alongside Macclesfield Canal and the Middlewood Way before joining the North Cheshire Way and climbing past Birchencliff to Moorside Lane before arriving at the Westpark Gate of Lyme Park and then progressing through the park. Close to Lyme Hall the Gritstone Trail is reached and followed through Knightslow Wood to Bowestonegate before continuing over Sponds Hill with its viewing point (1345ft/410m), finally around the side of Kerridge Hill back to the car park.
