The final section of our long distance winter walk will start in Tockwith. From Tockwith we head out along a farm track and over farmland towards Bilton-in-Ainsty and then on towards Healaugh.
At Healaugh, we will take a slight detour off the Jorvic Way so we can enjoy lunch at the church which gives views out across the farmland towards Tadcaster and hopefully there we see some daffodils 🤞.
After lunch we will head back out of Healaugh and back on to the Jorvic way, where we will pick up the carriage track to Tadcaster, passing Healaugh Priory.
🚌 Unfortunately there are no buses running to Tockwith on Saturdays. It is possible to get the Coastliner 843 to Tadcaster for 10:00 am (leaves York Railway station at 09:11; arrives in Tadcaster 09:41), which is an option for non drivers. If you would like to do this, please can you let Lizzie know before the walk date, as we will need to ensure there is sufficient cars to transport everyone to the start.
🅿️ For those arriving by car, please meet at the free Britannia car park by Tadcaster bus station (postcode LS24 8AB) for 10:00 am, where we coordinate transport to the start of the walk. Please be prepared to offer other people a lift to Tockwith either at the start or the end of the walk.
🐶 Dogs are welcome but should be kept on a lead. There are a few stiles to cross as well as fields where livestock may be grazing. If you are bringing your dog then you must arrange beforehand with someone else who is happy to give you and your dog a lift to Tockwith.
⚠️ Please be aware that this route does involve a short stretch of road walking near Healaugh
🥾 After wet weather some parts of the walk will be muddy - walking boots recommended
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch with you
🍺 After the walk there is the option to visit the the Coach & Horses or a small café (the Café Club) for a drink
