Overview

We head up Fairlie Glen admiring the waterfalls and old woods, past the castle then onto Fairlie Moor, heading east then crossing Fairlie Burn at Lairdside Hill where we will take a break.  We then head west and follow grouse butts to the trig point on Kaim Hill.   There are no paths and a lot of heather here so it feels nicely wild and a little bit challenging - great rewards for a local hill walk in the winter.  We go over the top of Kaim Hill, descending on Whiteside Hill to our lunch stop by the Glenburn Waterfall.  Our return path follows the contours of Black Hill to Diamond Hill then down a track, returning to Fairlie shore and rail station.
