This is a charming linear 11 mile/1250ft ascent (no dogs) riverside walk up to Kentmere and then over to Orrest Head (Wainwright's first Lakeland view which he described as his "first sight of mountains in tumultuous array across glittering waters, our awakening to beauty")
Return via Β£3 bus hop or Β£4.40 five minute train hop back to Staveley after drinks in Orrest Head pub or Booths cafe if wished. (Bus/train times to follow)
Allow plenty of time to park where you can (unless you want to pay Β£10 to park in the Mill Yard by the Spar shop) for a prompt 10am kickoff.
Wilf's cafe (in the Mill Yard ) will be open for brews and loos if you arrive early.
Please text (only) if you've any queries on 07934 966136.
