C WALK DESCRIPTION: Distance: 6.8 miles, total Ascent:439ft, Picnic lunch. Our walk is linear and starts at the High Peak Trail, with fine views across Carsington Water before dropping down towards the pretty villages of Carsington and Hopton and meeting Carsington Water. We shall then skirt the eastern side of the reservoir going south, following the cycleway and dipping into footpaths through the woods that are closer to the Water. We leave the Reservoir at the south end, turning east to reach Kirk Ireton and the Barley Mow pub if time. Then it is approximately 1 kilometre along a quiet road to the coach. We plan to reach the coach before sunset but please bring a torch in case of delays. The fare is £15.
