The walk starts at Lamberhurst and goes through the estate of Scotney Castle before climbing from Smugley Farm up to Goudhurst. About 6 miles and 500 feet of ascent.
Lunch will be at Goudhurst. The Star and Eagle by the church will cater for pub lunchers. Picknickers can sit in the nearby churchyard or at picnic tables by the duck pond further down the hill. There are toilets near the pond. The excellent Weeks baker and tea room is halfway down the hill and you might find a little treat to add to your picnic lunch.
The return drops down to the sweeping view by Crowbourne Farm and then it's a mostly flat walk past Finchcocks, on through the Scotney hop gardens and back to Lamberhurst. About 4 miles and less than 100 feet of ascent.
This is a walk we have done a couple of times and is well worth another visit. There are some good views and things of interest along the way. It was in the Bromley walks diary for 21 May but it appeared on the web site at the last moment and only a few people spotted it.
Park on the B2162 just after the southern end of The Broadway in Lamberhurst. Please note that the car park behind the village hall is not open for public use. The public toilets in the car park are still open.
