Starting from Sevenoaks station, we will walk up past the historic Cricket ground The Vine, and enter Knole Park, Kent's last medieval deer park. Knole park has beautiful views , woods and ponds as well as a golf course which we will pass through ( with caution). There is a National Trust cafe alongside historic Knole House, where we will stop for refreshments and toilets. It is also fine for walkers to bring their own refreshments and sit outside the cafe if preferred.
Knole House is the historic home of the Sackville family ,( some of whom still reside there) and is said to have 365 rooms!
We will leave the park by the main entrance onto Sevenoaks High Street, and walk down to the station through the town, where there are interesting old buildings and many opportunities for further refreshments , if walkers wish to partake!
The walk is 4.5 miles, although it is uphill from the station, the gradients are not very steep and it's downhill through the town on the way back.
The walk is published on the Darent Valley Trails app which is free to download onto phone or computer.
It is important to note that the deer in Knole park are not enclosed and roam freely across the park, therefore dogs must be kept on leads at all times in the park.
