Pre-registration not available for this walk - just turn up on the day.
Moderately paced walk in attractive Wealden countryside encompassing woods, open fields, quiet lanes and footpaths and lovely villages - as well as Penshurst Castle Estate and the picturesque village of Penshurst.
Mainly gently undulating terrain with areas of level walking.
Most of the muddy paths have now dried out though there might be muddy patches in some areas.
Some stiles en route.
Toilets at Tonbridge Station (no toilets at Penshurst or Leigh Stations).
Route: from Penshurst Station we cross the River Eden by the Vexour Bridge on our way to Wellers Town village, Salmans Manor and Hoath Corner. After lunch we follow the route to Penshurst Place via Hill Hoath and the Eden Valley walk. The final section takes us through Penshurst Castle Estate to finish at Leigh Station.
Lunch stop: Picnic at Hoath Corner with refreshments available at the Rock Inn - further refreshment opportunities later in the walk.
Meet at Penshurst Station at 11.15.
Travel: Charing Cross 09.59/Waterloo East. 10.02/London Bridge 10.08 - South Eastern train to Hastings - changing at Tonbridge (arr 10.40) to the 11.01 Southern train to Redhill - arr Penshurst 11.09.
Ticket/Fare: Off-Peak Day Return to Penshurst: £21.00/Railcard £13.85/SRC+FP £8.25 - buy from Orpington.
Finish: Leigh Station at about 5.30.
