We are the Greater Manchester & High Peak Area Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Area long walk. Distances are generally 9-10 miles unless specified.
In a change from my original plan, I have adapted a previous walk for this Littleborough circular. We head out via Ealees Wood and follow a grassy, undulating route to Knowl farm, where we then follow a brook to reach and cross the A58. We are greeted by some uninspiring scenery for a short while until we regain the grassy paths along by the canal and begin to ascent, via Lower Chelham reservoir, to Blackstone edge and the Poetry stone ‘Rain’. We will head back from The White House into Littleborough along footpaths, passing Stormer Hill and returning via Ealees wood once more to reach the canal.
There are 5 stiles and footbridges over the brook.
we descend and ascend steps. There is mud and we have some boggy paths to navigate.

No booking required, although we do ask that everyone carries an ICE card - we can supply if needed.
The walks will invariably involve ascent and descent, some of which may be steep. They will usually, depending on the weather, be soft and/or muddy, sometimes with ill defined tracks across fields or moorland - ensure you have appropriate footwear. Please consider your personal fitness and ability before attending the walk - if you're not sure, feel free to contact us for advice on the potential conditions, whilst the leader will base the walk on their own ability and may issue instructions where appropriate, you are ultimately responsible for your own safety. Please wear appropriate clothing for the prevailing weather, plan for the worst and hope for the best, bring any essentials and lunch.
