Overview

A gentle circular walk through fields and country lanes to Lower Peover, delaying at the ‘Tree of Imagination’, and passing the Bells of Peover and the delightful and historic church of St Oswald. Our route then follows the course of the historical local river (the Peover Eye) , along Fullers Gate, and through Great Wood to Peover Hall.

The route is pretty much flat, there are a good few stiles and if there’s inevitable rain there could well be mud and standing water - so walking poles and good boots recommended – or better still – Wellies!.

Bring coffee and sandwiches for the break(s).  Option of a pint in the Bells of Peover after the walk.

Start Point:- Holmes Chapel Road (A.50) on grass verge next to entrance to Hillcrest Farm. Directions to Start Take your preferred route onto the A-50 (Holmes Chapel Road) ( This road joins Knutsford to Holmes Chapel). Travel south, and, two miles south of Knutsford look out for the sign “Barclays Technology Centre” on your left. (This is also the turning to Radbroke Hall and the old Whipping Stocks Inn). There are large chevron signs indicating that the A-50 turns sharp right here. Carry on down the A-50 and, in slightly less than half a mile, look out for two inconsequential looking entrances on the right and a makeshift sign nailed to a tree saying “The Barnyard”. Park up here on the grass verge on the right hand side of the A-50 (facing north by preference). Parking space a bit limited so car-share recommended
