Overview

A circuit of part of the Lyme Park estate and adjacent moorland, starting from the Nelson Pit bottom car park.

Also accessible by bus from Stockport.

Some mud and possible waterlogged areas, but attractive countryside, woods, and views. The imposing main house in Lyme Park was used as Pemberley in BBC TV's 1995 'Pride and Prejudice' series.

Route: Haresteads Farm, Timberyard Cafe near Lyme Park house (GR 962826), Parkgate, (GR 964842), steady climb up to the Cage, steep climb past Lantern Wood, across moorland to Bowstonegate, across Park Moor to Moorside, West Parkgate, Green Farm, and back to Nelson Pit.
