For this circular walk, we will set off across the moorland of Sheriffmuir towards the Ochils. Joining Sheriffmuir Road, we take a short and pleasant wander south along the tarmac for just under a mile, before turning off onto a forestry track that leads us towards Lossburn Reservoir. From there we head uphill on grassy tracks to the tumbledown remains of Jerah Farm - well worth a wee explore! Heading on further uphill we join another forestry track. Climbing further still on this track, we reach a path leading gently up over grassy, sometimes boggy, terrain to the summit of Big Hunt Hill. At 521 feet, this summit affords cracking 360 degree views. Returning back to the track we head downhill to cross Sheriffmuir Road and head back over the moorland to our cars. For those who wish it, we can head into nearby Dunblane for cake and coffee at The Riverside to finish our day in time-honoured fashion.
There is a mix of terrain on this walk, including grassy paths with some sections overgrown with ferns, forestry tracks, and a section of tarmac road. Uphill sections are mainly fairly gentle climbs, with some steeper sections which we will take slow and steady with breather-breaks as required.
Car sharing is recommended as parking may be limited at Sheriffmuir.
