This is a lovely hill walk starting from the Moulin Hotel, where we will head along the minor road until we reach the footpath that leads uphill through trees before joining the well defined path which crosses the heather moorland giving views towards the summit of Ben Vrackie. This will be our tea break stop to admire the excellent views over Pitlochry and beyond. We will then continue our walk until reaching top end of Loch a' Choire with the path visible climbing up the steep cone of Ben Vrackie. This part of the climb is steep, with many rough stone steps, but we will take this at a nice easy pace, until we finally reach the summit cairn.
From the summit the views are superb, taking in the panorama up the strath towards Blair Atholl as well as down below Pitlochry, and the three summits of Beinn a Ghlò , and the Cairngorms beyond. This will be an excellent place to have our lunch break.
The return route is by the same path back down the steep path until we reach the Loch, where we will pick up the narrower path branching off circling the shores of the loch. Towards the far end the path can be boggy in places. Beyond the loch it curves left and climbs slightly uphill through heather moorland, then following the zig-zag path back to pick up the main path to continue downhill until we reach the t-junction, and follow the same path back to our start point. We will then have the option for refreshments at the hotel before the bus pick up.
