The walk will start at Marsden station after the arrival of the 10.01 from Manchester Victoria due at 10.29.

Note: walkers are advised to check one of the rail websites such as nationalrail or trainline close to the departure time in case of late changes to the running of the train.

Train ticket - return to Marsden (from Greenfield if holding a GM concessionary pass).

Car parking is available on the streets below the station.

Walk route - Ashton Binn, Hey Laithe Farm, Deer Hill Conduit, Leyzing Clough, Wessenden Lodge, Black Moss Reservoir, Standedge, Redbrook Reservoir.

Although there will be some inevitable boggy patches, particularly near the start, much of the walk uses firm tracks and paths including the Pennine Way. There are a couple of very steep ascents but also lengthy stretches on the level. In good visibility this offers great moorland walking.

Expected time back into Marsden - no later than 17.30. We may be back in time for the 17.06, trains to Manchester run hourly.
