Overview

The walk visits five dales and starts with the footpath for the full length of Monks Dale, then road/tracks/footpaths with panoramic views, into Tideswell and Litton. Here we pick up the footpaths again to drop down into Tansley Dale, joining Cressbrook Dale where a small footbridge gives access to the opposite bank and an ascent to the best views of Ravens Cliff leading down to Cressbrook and Water-cum-jolly Dale. The path stays close to the river with great views of several rock features and sport climbing venues all the way along the re-joined Millers Dale until Litton Mill, where we cross the river again to join the Monsal Trail for a short distance. We cross back over the river at Ravens Tor and follow the quiet road back past the Anglers Rest PH to the cars. Dry underfoot on recce but may be slippy in the wet, particularly in Monks Dale. 1950 ft asc. Tel 07498917265. Full Day. Bring lunch and adequate liquids. Booking is essential and opens from 16/09/2025. Book using https://nmc-ramblers.org.uk/ or click link below.
