Fourth section of the Minster Way - a relatively flat 12-mile section with no massive hills, but plenty of sweeping views on the edge of the Wolds. Leaving Huggate on a quiet road we head into farmland and pass through North Dalton, Bainton and Kilnwick before arriving in Lockington. Expect big fields, trees and some mud.
⚠️Please note this walk is now scheduled for Saturday 7th Feb 2026, the same day as an Open Brunch event at Lockington Village Hall (bacon/sausage butties plus tea and coffee will be served from 10:00am, so get there early if you are hungry, or need the loo!)
🪧Meet at Lockington Village Hall, 14, Chapel Street, Lockington, YO25 9SN at 10.15am, ready to leave at 10.35am. We will be car sharing from Lockington to Huggate. If you wish to meet us at the start of the walk in Huggate for an 11:00am start, please let me know so we can ensure that we have enough cars in Lockington to get you back to your car in Huggate around 4:30pm.
🅿️Due to the brunch event taking place we will need to park on surrounding streets. Please park considerately. Lockington Village Hall does have a car park (honesty payment) but we expect parking here to be limited.
🚌 Unfortunately there are no public transport options to Lockington or Huggate on this day/time
🥾 Muddy stretches to are expected so you must bring appropriate footwear
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch
🐶 Dogs on a lead are welcome, but you must pre-arrange with someone willing to give you and your dog a lift at least one way. I don't recall any stiles on the route. There were livestock in fields on the route so please keep dogs on leads and under control.
🍺 Option to go to Huggate for a drink at the Wolds Inn after the walk.
