Park on Butts Road opposite the Monsall Head Pub for the start of the walk which descends to the historic Monsall Trail in order to approach the impressive former textile mill in Cressbrook, first operated by Richard Arkright.We begin height gain of 1000ft from the village to Longstone Moor spaced over 3 miles mainly on established paths but they may be uneven crossing open countryside. Some open moorland might have boggy sections. From the moor the walk drops gradually to Little Longstone and returns to the Monsall Head via the tunnel of the disused railway.
