Flanked by the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve and Eastridge Woods, this walk has far-reaching views of the South Shropshire Hills, and incorporates a ridgeline ascent of Oak Hill.
Starting in Snailbeach, the walk will pass through the extensive remains of the Snaibeach Lead Mine, up towards Lordshill. From here we will follow a stream down through Crowsnest Dingle towards Stiperstones village, before swinging east and taking the Mytton Dingle ridgeline ascent to the summit of Oak Hill. Please note, this section is relatively steep in places, with areas of loose footing, and some scrambling may be required.
Having summited Oak Hill we will walk past Blakemoorgate, before descending back towards Snailbeach.
The Mytton Dingle ridgeline can be seen to the rear of the photograph.
Walking boots/walking trainers advised.
If your timings are tight, feel free to bring food to eat on the hills - we can have an extended pause on top and soak in the views. This may push the end time back slightly, but we’ll have plenty of daylight remaining.
