A walk of varied landscapes, ranging from riverside paths, a disused railway  trail & open moorland.

There is some significant ascent and descent of Lantern Pike, so a good level of fitness and sturdy boots are required.

The majority of the walk is along quiet roads (that have pavements) and country lanes/paths/disused train track (Sett Valley Trail) – there is a bit of a steep short ascent and descent to the top of Lantern Pike (which some may find difficult during wet weather to undertake or even dry weather) –  therefore there is an alternative option to avoid the Pike, by taking the lower path (Pennine Bridleway) along the hill.

Also, if there has been heavy rain recently, some of the paths may be muddy and we may need to skirt around short bits of paths that are flooded.

This is a combined  walk and social:  ‘Light up the Torrs’ – you don’t need to do  both!  Please refer to ‘Socials’ on our website for information.

Light Up The Torrs commemorates the 25th anniversary of the iconic Millennium Walkway. Visitors will experience a breathtaking trail through The Torrs, brought to life with incredible fire and light installations."
