Train based walk

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Romiley Station.
Transport to Walk Start: 09:48 train from Manchester Piccadilly to Romiley.
Suggested Ticket: Off-Peak Day Return to Romiley £7.30.
Walk Start: At the car park at Romiley Station at 10:10.
Waypoints: Greave, Springwood Farm, Far Benfield, Near Cloughside, Werneth Low War Memorial, Baron Road, Apethorn Lane, Transpennine Way, Woodend Lane (Roving Bridge), Peak Forest Canal, Gee Cross Mill site, Woodley Tunnel, Stockport Road.
Return Services: Frequent (3 or more per hour) from Romiley to Manchester Piccadilly.
Extra: No toilets at Romiley Station. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs).
Starting and ending at Romiley Station, we head up and across Werneth Low to Gee Cross, returning by the Peak Forest Canal. Weather permitting there will be spectacular views of Manchester and the Peak District, and also a bit of folk and industrial history thrown in.
The usual hiking kit is advised. But pack a head torch or torch, as we’ll be going through a tunnel!
