Overview

This is a linear walk which goes from Newport library to the Smithy in Godshill. There will be a picnic lunch and there are no stiles.

The walk follows the Old Railway Line and Stenbury Trail through Shide and Blackwater through to Merstone Station where we hope to have our picnic lunch. From there we follow the Stenbury and Yar River Trail through to The Smithy Car park at Godshill. It may be muddy in places but it is a mainly flat walk all the way.

There is a bus stop across the road from the Smithy where there are frequent buses nos. 2 and 3 back to Newport. Parking is also free at the Smithy all day.

There will be two joint walk leaders, Roger M and Eric P. Their phone numbers are:

Eric: 07899 795553
Roger: 07740 541153
