What better way to build an appetite for our mid-winter lunch than taking a walk high above the Tyne valley!
Starting from the Duke of Wellington in Newton, our route climbs gradually up Tofts Hill then follows the Brockhole Burn towards Greenleighton. We should have magnificent views across the Tyne valley as we descend towards the grounds of Mowdon Hall via Shildon Hill (the site of one of few Iron Age defended enclosures in the Tyne Valley and re-occupied in the Romano-British period) and Heathery Edge. Our final stretch is on country lanes back to the pub! All are welcome on the walk (even if not booked for the lunch).
Advance booking is required for this walk. To reserve your place, please e-mail the walk leader, Liz, through the 'Get in touch about this walk' box on the right hand side of this page above - and remember to include your mobile number in the e-mail. Please check your spam folder for any replies.
Booking opens on Monday, 5th January.
Please note the earlier start time of 10am (to give us plenty of time to return and change boots before lunch). If you are attending the lunch, you must book that separately (please see separate event page for this).
