Overview

A walk to celebrate Bristol Walk Fest 2026.  Public transport to Clutton is available from Bristol and Wells directions, (see Start details).  This walk starts at Clutton and takes a route through scenic landscape of the old Somerset Coal Fields, now merged with nature to provide habitat for wildlife.  We walk to the edge of High Littleton across fields and after crossing the A39 follow footpaths through Kingwell estate and over The Sleight to Farmborough where we pick up The Radstock Ring.  The 'Ring' of approximately 50 miles was devised by Somer Valley Ramblers to highlight the diverse landscape and history of the area.

We will start from the parish church which sits at the junction of Venus Lane with Church Lane in Clutton. There is roadside parking on the roadside around the start point. Please DO NOT park in the church car park as you will be blocking church users. If you use public transport alight at Cholwell bus stop on the Upper Bristol Road, (A37) on the southern side of Clutton. Find the footpath near the bus stop and next to Sages Cottage and walk across fields in a generally east direction towards the church at Clutton. The route is serviced by route 376 from Bristol Bus Station at 08:50 am and arrives at the bus stop called 'Cholwell' at approximately 09:42.am. Return buses to Bristol are approximately 15 minutes past each hour. If approaching from Wells direction you will need to cross the main road after alighting the bus to find the footpath.
