Overview

A pretty walk from East Malling down to the River Medway at Nettlestead, then along the Medway Valley by river and hillside paths to East Farleigh. Gentle hills alternate with flat riverside paths, offering a pleasing mix of woods, orchards and fields opening up to sweeping views of the river and valley sides.  Brief stop at Nettlestead to view medieval glass in church. Relatively easy walking, but moderate pace and a longish morning. Be prepared for mud. Possible drop out at Wateringbury before lunch. (SWC 337)

Toilets: on train, at leisure centre early in walk, and in pub at lunchtime.

Lunch: Lunch, pub (Tickled Trout) or picnic at West Farleigh.  Best to bring picnic and use pub for drinks.

Train:  Victoria 8:55; Bromley South 9:12; Arr. East Malling 9:52 (Ashford train).  Return from East Farleigh (Medway Valley Line) to Paddock Wood; change there to return via Southeastern to Charing X.  Buy 2 singles.
