Overview

Walk starting on the western side of the village and walking via Treflach hall to Sweeney fen nature reserve, a SSSI, where there will be an opportunity to observe several species of orchid and other rare plants which grow there. From there we go to Sweeney mountain, and return to Trefonen via Gronwen and the Woodhill estate.

Footpaths, tracks and country lanes. There’s steep and uneven ground in places, livestock in fields (sheep, cows and horses), mud in wet weather, 13 stiles, but beautiful rolling countryside with good views in places. 2 stops for coffee and lunch.
