Overview

Brisk walk from Pangbourne and its companion Whitchurch, on the other side of the River Thames, passing on a toll bridge over the river, with the route continuing through Great Chalk Wood to Goring for lunch.  In the afternoon the walk continues along the Thames Path with a diversion to visit Hartslock National Nature Reserve.  There is a long hill at the start and several more undulations.  Hartslock is very small but a steep there-and-back. There are toilets located on Platform 2 at Pangbourne, but use toilets on the train if possible.

Lunch: at Goring where there are plenty of pubs, tea rooms and food shops (also public toilets).

Train/transport details: London Paddington 09:38; Reading 10:24 (GWR Didcot Parkway train).
