A pleasant walk in the countryside of Hampshire. Expect a few hills along the way a bit of woodland and paths across open downs. We begin by walking down the high street and outskirts of the smart town of Petersfield to pick up the Hangar's Way which after modern housing leads out into open countryside. The path climbs steeply after the village of Buriton past former chalk and lime quarries before entering the forested area of Queen Elizabeth park. Please bring a packed lunch. We might stop in the forest for an early lunch where there is a picnic area with toilet facilities. Alternatively we could continue to Chalton where there is a pub opposite the village green and church. Depending on the size and progress of the group it may be possible to have short breaks in each of these places. There are some lovely views to be had in second part of the walk as we traverse Chalton Downs via the Staunton Way/Sussex Border Path to Rowlands Castle.
The finishing time is an estimate only and is dependent on a number of factors including the weather, the size and speed the group and the number of breaks taken.
