Moderate walk along section 3 of the London Loop. Some walking along residential roads, but most of the route is on footpaths through attractive countryside that includes woodland, country parks and commons. Points of interest: Farnborough village, once a significant coaching stop on the London/Hastings road, with its attractive church; High Elms Country Park, originally the country home of the Lubbock family; The Wilberforce Oak and Keston Common and ponds (Iron-age earthworks). From Keston we head for Hayes Station via Hayes Common (4 trains p.h. from Hayes Station to Waterloo East). Café/picnic lunch at High Elms. Terrain: hard surfaces, grassy paths, some rough, stony and rutted tracks; some small flights of steps and undulations. Walking boots advised, especially if wet. Several opt out points by regular bus services to Orpington or Bromley. Finish c16:15h
