We did this walk on a snowy day last winter. Everybody enjoyed it and felt that it would be a totally different walk at a different time of the year. This time we will do the walk in reverse. We will leave the Recreation Ground and cross over the river, past the theatre and up to the dam where we will cross back to the other side. We will then follow the loch before climbing up to the golf course and then down to Moulin and returning to Pitlochry via Casteal Dubh, Edradour Distillery and Black Spout Wood. The walk is mostly on paths with some short, mostly quiet road sections
Local grade C+ RADO
Although not really boggy, there are several slippery bits and a couple of steep drops away from the path, so poles recommended. There are some fairly hilly bits and it is undulating but we effectively climb to just above Moulin village. Several sets of steps.
Strong walkers may wish to leave the group at the golf course, climb Craigower and make their own way down to Pitlochry. This would add an extra 2.9 miles and 210m of ascent and take about an hour and twenty minutes without a stop.
Please book with walk leader at least two days before the walk.
