Overview

This is a 9.5-mile classic Kentish walk through gentle fields and quiet lanes as we enjoy a Summer stroll in "Darling Buds of May" countryside. Look out also for distinctively arched "Dering" windows around Pluckley which date back to the 19th century.

Our walk commences from Pluckley following the Greensand Way passing through Elvey Farm en route to Egerton, before heading north to give good views of the North Downs. Soon we are on the Stour Valley Walk which joins from the left. We then pass the ruins of St Marys Church, which was destroyed by a doodlebug during the 2nd World War.

On reaching Little Chart, if not too early there will be a pit stop at the Swan Inn, our lunch snack break will most likely follow shortly afterwards at picturesque Little Chart Forstal, which is where Author H.E Bates lived.

We then make our way back to Pluckley via Rooting Manor, before re-joining the Greensand Way through orchards and field paths to finish.
