THIS WALK IS NOW FULL, THANK YOU.
A walk through rugged countryside with 360° panoramic views and landscapes stretching back through time, taking in the Neolithic standing stones at Mitchell's Fold with the associated folklore of the magic cow. Moor, path and road walking.
After a couple of recce’s I have shortened Walk 34 (from the 20 More Walks Book) to approx. 5 miles.
Firstly, we shall omit the walk round Lan Fawr as the descent was too muddy and then also take off a loop that goes down the track from the wooden marker and back up by the pillow mounds.
This is still at the tougher end of ‘Thursday’ walks with some steep sections (both up and down) and there are still some muddy sections.
There are about 7/8 stiles.
Walking poles are advisable.
Parking is available in the lane just off the road ( W3W: thigh.buckling.uniform)
Additional parking is available further up the lane (mind the potholes) nearer the stone circle (W3W: midwinter.mural.dizziness) or up the lane opposite by the Severn Trent reservoir (W3W: originate.feuds.curious). This sounds like a lot of parking but it’s not much and can be busy.
For those needing refreshments after the walk, the Miner’s Arms in Priest Weston is rather good, well, the beer is anyway!
Contact the walk leader by text to book on to the walk.
Please let the walk leader know if you can either offer lifts, or require a lift.
Voluntary transport cost, for people car sharing £3 per person.
