Walking from Ravensbourne Station we stay as close as possible to the course of the Ravensbourne River as it flows to the Thames at Deptford/Greenwich. The walk is a mixture of riverside walking, parks and roads (some short busy stretches) so expect a combination of paths and pavements. The full walk is just under nine miles but there are lots of dropping off points en route (Two, Three, Four, Six or Seven Miles).
Recommend catching the 09:46 from Blackfriars Station (Platform 3) which arrives at Ravensbourne Station at 10:17. The trains run every half hour so DONT miss the train. If you do miss the train the next one is half an hour later and if you call me we could meet up at Bellingham Station.
A little known tributary of the Thames. The walk starts in the suburbs and becomes busier as we go along. The walk shares some of its route with the Capital Ring and Green Chain walks and is mostly quiet and pleasant but also a few busy roads. Plenty of places to get refreshments along the way but recommend packed lunches. Just over the halfway point we will stop for lunch at Ladywell Park where there is a small cafe and public toilets.
We should arrive at Deptford/ Greenwich in time to visit the covered market for anyone who might be interested in enjoying a range of global street foods or pick up unusual handicraft stuff for Christmas. Or you could just jump on the DLR and make your way home.
