This walk is a classic Long Mynd ramble. Starting from the Easthope Carpark the route ascends the Long Mynd via Rectory Woods and Ashlet.
Having gained the height of the Long Mynd the route then cross the open heathland to Pole Bank Cottage where a picnic lunch in the May sunshine will provide panoramic views of the distant Malverns and the Wrekin.
The route then follows the ancient route beside the Bronze Age sacrificial pools, taking a gentle descent into the eastern side of the Long Mynd.
Reaching Medlicott we take a little used route across the hillside to approach the Shooting Box from the east, with sweeping views of the distant Stiperstones and the Welsh mountains.
The descent is via the Motts Road into Carding Mill Valley, where if we time it right a well earned ice cream can be purchased from the National Trust cafe.
A good introductory walk to the Long Mynd balancing the busy Carding Mill with the less often valleys on the east side of the Long Mynd.
Car parking is free at the Easthope carpark on a Sunday.
Public toilets are also available at this location.
