Overview

A six-mile circular, undulating walk starting from the Church End Brewery car park in Ridge Lane. We walk along Purley Chase Road, then turn northwards to pass near Mancetter Hill Farm and on to Outwoods Bridge via Atherstone Golf Course. We join the Coventry Canal towpath for 0.8 of a mile, crossing over the canal and continuing on a track to Oak Tree Farm. We continue uphill for some distance to a glorious viewpoint at Hartshill Country Park. We then reach a road, passing down an enclosed path to join the Centenary Way. We join a disused railway track for half a mile, then proceed to Lady Wood Farm and walk a short distance back to the start.

We have permission to use the car park on condition we buy drinks from their tap room bar. There are excellent toilets.  An 8-mile version of the walk can be found on the Ramblers' website.

(The Church End Brewery started life in an old coffin workshop in nearby Shustoke in 1994. It was so successful it outgrew those premises and took over an old social club here in 2003. They now brew over 40 different beers, including wheat, fruit and herb beers as well as traditional ales. Brewert tours are available if booked in advance. The tap room is open all day at the weekend: you are allowed to take in your own cold food to eat there if you buy a drink. For more information see https://churchendbrewery.co.uk.)
