Overview

Meeting at Ball Pit Road we walk through the north-side of East Ilsley before climbing steadily up to the Ridgeway to cross Compton Downs in order to reach the dismantled railway where we will head west and north to the outskirts of Chilton. We then cross the Lynch Way and farmland to reach the outskirts of Blewbury before heading up to Churn Knob and crossing Several Downs to reach the cars. This undulating walk is mostly on firm paths and tracks with very little mud and standing water (when recce'd!).
