An easy riverside walk crossing some of the bridges on the River Clyde. Starting at King George V Bridge we walk as far as the new Govan Bridge, known as the Spiky Bridge. We pass the Finnieston Crane and the Tall Ship, the Glenlee. At the Science Centre we can view the three floating wetlands and can try out the outside interactive exhibits. The walk ends with a visit to Govan Old Parish Church to see the Govan Stones, a collection of early medieval carved stones. We pass the Mary Barbour statue as we reach Govan Underground.
All pavement walking. Busy junctions to cross.
Anyone there early can relax in the Social Bite before starting the walk.
There will be a break at Science Centre for toilets, coffee and entertainment. You can bring your own food as usual or purchase food here.
Returning to city centre via subway to either St Enoch’s or Buchanan Street, so bring bus pass for reduced fare.
The day can be finished off with a meal. Suggestions welcome.
Please book this walk by Friday 18th April. Numbers will be restricted.
