This is an 11-mile route that starts from the tiny hamlet of Rolvenden Layne, which is situated close to Tenterden, and about 1 mile south of Rolvenden. All of the surrounds lie within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Rolvenden Layne does however boost a public house, the Ewe & Lamb, which is where this walk commences.
Initially heading in a westerly direction, soon passing Great Maytham Hall and along the edge of the delightfully named Wilderness. Next up is Merrington Place, before joining a section of the High Weald Landscape Trail which is followed at various times throughout, and onwards through Dingleden, to skirt the edge Benenden.
We also head down to Rolvenden, where there is a station on the vintage Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway, as we make our back to the Ewe & Lamb, for the obligatory post walk drink.
