Overview

Pre registration not available for this walk. Just turn up on the day.

Moderately paced 9 mile/14.4 km walk offering extensive views of the surrounding countryside from the Greensand Ridge.

Substantial areas of level walking with a few modest hills. As many of the paths are farm tracks, much of the terrain is on tarmac/ gravelled surfaces thus avoiding ( though not entirely) some of the mud usually associated with country walks at this time of the year. Walking boots advised.

Route: from an opening stretch through Pinnacle wood, the walk heads across fields initially following the route of a Roman road and later along field edges before reaching the Greensand Ridge. Here, the track continues along the ridge through the grounds  of Woodbury Park on our way to Everton. After which, we remain on the Greensand Ridge Walk, rejoining the Roman road route  as we retrace our steps to the start.

Lunch stop: Everton village - refreshment available at the Thornton Arms. Please bring picnic.

Meet at Sandy Station at 10.10.

Travel: King's Cross: 09.16/Finsbury Park 09.24 -Thameslink train to Peterborough - arr Sandy 10.05.

Ticket/Fare: Buy Off-Peak return to Sandy £16.90/Railcard £11.15/SRC+FP £6.95.
