A leisurely circular walk to a breath-taking coastal headland with dramatic sea cliffs, famed for its seabird colonies (up to 60,000 birds) and a working lighthouse. We return via the inland, man-made Mire Loch.
November and December are usually good months to watch the grey seals and their newborn pups on the beaches at St Abbs Head. At one particular beach, a new fence allows us to get quite close (but safely) to the seals. If the weather is cold, the Old School Café in St Abbs (5 mins walk from car park) serves hot chocolate, etc and home baking.
The walk starts at 10am at the National Trust for Scotland Visitor Centre, Northfield, St. Abb’s car park.
