Overview

We start this walk at the National Trust car park for Shugborough Hall, where we follow the 'ladies walk' and circle Hadrain's Arch, and head along the river to cross into Cannock Chase.

Our walk across Cannock Chase, crosses the stepping stones at Seven Springs, and leads us to Milford Common, where we plan to stop for lunch.

After lunch we will return to Shugborough, via the canal along Tixall wide, passing Essex Bridge and back past Shugborough Hall. Returning to the car park, where we started.

Terrain varies, from muddy paths around Shugborough, to fire tracks on Cannock Chase, and a tow path along the canal. Walking poles if you have them, are useful on the muddy paths.

There are no stiles on this route, but there are a couple of steep hill climbs.
