A leisurely circular walk to a breath-taking coastal headland with dramatic sea cliffs, famed for its seabird colonies (up to 60,000 birds) and a working lighthouse. We return via the inland, man-made Mire Loch.
The cliffs provide spectacular vantage points from which to watch the seabirds. As well as guillemots, kittiwakes and razorbills, there are shags, herring gulls and fulmars. Currently there is a nesting pair of mute swans and various waterbirds on Mire Loch.
Terrain: Mostly easy walking on undulating, well-defined grass paths and a quiet access road. May be muddy in places.
Local cafes are within walking distance of the car park.
Circular walk, grade C, Leisurely. Hiking boots and poles are recommended.
