This leisurely walk on either side of the Tweed replaces the advertised walk, also from St. Boswells. We meet at St. Boswells bus stance, and walk along the edge of the golf course to Mertoun Bridge, where we cross the Tweed. We return on the far bank, past Dryburgh Abbey, recrossing the Tweed by the suspension bridge, and then return along the riverside path to St. Boswells.
There will be mud in some places, but the walk follows good paths, with 2 stiles to climb, and one very quiet stretch of road. We enjoy gentle countryside, river views and various points of interest en route. Boots are essential and walking poles are strongly recommended.
There will be a lunch and drinks stops, and the opportunity for coffee and cake at the end of the walk, in St. Boswells itself or in Newtown St. Boswells.
