A circular walk led by Pauline L (Mobile No: 07976 953355) over gently undulating terrain and mainly good surfaces which passes Stansted Windmill (built 1787, largely intact inside and open to view on regular dates throughout the summer), the little hamlet of Hazel End which has all the traditional constituents of an idyllic village scene - pub, pond, cricket field and ancient thatched cottages, Farnham Church (worth a look inside, if open), Manuden with a church dating from the 12th century albeit substantially rebuilt during the 19th century and many other old and attractive buildings, Ugley whose church dates from the 13th century but was much restored in the 19th, Ugley Green and further old and attractive buildings on the way back to Stansted Mountfitchet Station. Lunch stop at Manuden after 4.5 miles at ‘The Yew Tree’ pub or picnic in churchyard opposite. Map: E195, L167.

NOTE: This walk replaces the circular walk from Wadhurst via Mayfield which the leader walked out on Friday 17th May and noted that it was extremely muddy and unstable underfoot in places.
