From the recreation ground we start in a westerly direction. We immediately cross the Rood Hill Road and join the Lambourne Valley Way. After about half a mile gentle climb we reach the top of Easton Hill where we turn right down the Easton Hill Road. At the bottom of the hill, we cross the Rood Hill Road again and join a footpath which follows the River Lambourne round Boxford as far as Shepherd’s Hill Road. We walk down this road, for about 500yards where we pause to admire the 13th century St Andrew’s church. We then continue through Boxford to re-join the Lambourn Valley and back to the starting point.
Some parts of the walk are along minor roads where traffic is light, but care is needed to watch for the occasional fast vehicle. A small part of the walk is through long grass and nettles, shorts walkers take note!
The walk, grade is moderate/leisurely.
Please bring refreshments for a mid walk break.
Please book online by 6pm, Friday, 18 July.
NB: This Picnic and walks are open to members of West Berkshire Ramblers only.
