Overview

This circular walk allows elevated views of Earlston, Melrose and Gattonside. Initially we head west out of Earlston, past the rugby ground, and gradually climb a farm track past Clatteringford Dean to stand beside Greenhill Plantation. From here there are magnificent views across Earlston and the surrounding countryside. We continue to walk west along a farm track until we meet the SUW which we then follow on grass paths south-west towards the road running past Gattonside Mains. After about 1 km, we join the Goatbrae path running uphill to the north-east. Along this path there are great views of Gattonside and Melrose. Continuing along this path we pass through Sorrowless Mains farm, and eventually back to Clatteringford Bridge and Earlston.
