By 1993 "Rave" music had all but disappeared from the charts whilst the underground sound had gone dark and moody which was being reflected in the atmosphere at raves. There was however an alternative if you liked the harder side of dance music, techno. 
Born in Detroit in the 80s and becoming big in countries like Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and Scotland along the way, it was 1993 when techno came to the forefront of the dance music scene elsewhere.
1993 was also the year the Essential Mix began and saw the rise of the superstar DJ.
This walk will explore the role London had to play in this next chapter of dance music history.
