A Sunday stroll around some pleasant parts of London's most rural borough; the first half passes through rolling hills and picturesque villages (as well as Charles Darwin's house) and then the second half follows the London Loop through country parks, woodland and the occasional bit of suburbia.
Bring a packed lunch. There will be two stops (the length of the stops will be weather dependent); the first one at around 5 miles distance at the village of Cudham where there is seating, public toilets and and a pub (for drinks only) and then the second at around 10 miles distance at High Elms Country Park where there is seating, public toilets and a cafe (for drinks and light bites only).
A moderate pace (no more than an average of 3mph) and some slight undulations in the first half. Though the walk never technically leaves London, it is still along country paths - so mud is possible. Though the aim is to very much finish before dark, please do bring a head torch if possible - just in case. Pub at the end of walk.
Transport: Take the 9:31 from London Charing Cross (Waterloo East: 9:34, London Bridge 9:40, Orpington 10:14) arrive at Knockholt at 10:20. Meet just outside the entrance of Knockholt station.
