Tyneham treat showcases a sterling walk in an area of outstanding natural beauty starting from the deserted ruins of Tyneham village and climbing up out of the valley to walk along the glorious coastal paths of the Jurassic Coastline.
Tyneham - the forgotten village where time has stood still since 1943 after Winston Churchill's War Cabinet requisitioned Tyneham for D-Day preparations with the promise the villagers would be allowed back one day. 102 cottages were given just 28 days notice to leave. Tyneham sustained substantial damage from regular shelling and army manoeuvres, becoming a virtual war zone. When WWII ended the military were keen to hold onto their new training ground and the villagers were never allowed home.
